Joint injections Very common injections into inflamed joints (arthritis) from shoulder to knee and hip injections. Some of these injections are usually done without fluoroscopy while others are usually done with it. Joints are usually injected with a combination of local anesthetics and steroids. Artificial joint fluid ("lubricant") which is produced by multiple manufacturers under different brand names is also FDA-approved for knee injections. Another joint that is often injected is the sacro-iliac (SI) joint. This is the joint that connects the spinal column with the pelvic bones. This injection cannot be done without fluoroscopy (live x-ray imaging) as the joint space is very narrow. We will post here pictures of various joint injections. |
